What an EcoVadis assessment typically covers
Assessments are generally organized around four themes: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. The depth of questions scales with your company size, industry, and the countries you operate in. You are usually asked to support answers with documents such as policies, certifications, and management procedures.
Gather your evidence first
Before answering, collect what you already have: environmental or quality policies, an employee handbook or code of conduct, health & safety procedures, anti-corruption or ethics statements, and any certifications (for example ISO 14001 or ISO 45001). Mapping what exists — and what is missing — is the fastest way to a defensible response.
Turn gaps into a short action plan
You will almost always find gaps. Rather than leaving them blank, document a brief, realistic plan: what you will put in place, who owns it, and a rough timeline. Buyers respond far better to a transparent supplier with a credible improvement plan than to silence.
Build a reusable response pack
The same evidence is requested by multiple customers, banks, and investors in slightly different formats. Assembling a single, structured response pack — profile, draft answers, evidence list, and action plan — means each new request becomes a quick adaptation rather than a fresh scramble.
